They say laughter is the Best Medicine but, what is in a laugh? Probably more than you think. While we
all appreciate hearing a good joke, it turns out that laughter has health benefits that extend far
beyond a few chuckles of guffaws. In fact, laughter is downright healthy.

- Laughing can help your body fight disease and infection.
- Laughter can help ease pain.
- Laughing lessens stress and can help lengthen your life.
The KHN "Anything But Serious" Hospital Clown Troupe enhances the lives of hospital and nursing home
patients by using the simple gifts of kindness and laughter. The clowns use humor, music, and pet
therapy as a means to alleviate fears, anxieties, and depression associated with a clinical setting.
They use the simple gifts of laughter, kindness, and respect for each other's inner beings to help
promote the healing power in the hospital setting. These clowns have been professionally schooled in
hospital ministry and clown ethics. The troupe recognizes that humor must also be context appropriate,

Our Parish Nurse program is committed to the restoration and maintenance of whole person
health within Faith-Based Communities. Our Parish Nurse Coordinator would welcome your
